Everything you need to know about La Madone 2022
Chardonnay is a white grape variety originating from Burgundy. It owes its popularity to its incredible adaptability, thriving in a variety of climates and soils. This grape variety produces wines with varied aromas and flavors, ranging from stone fruits like apple and pear to notes of butter, vanilla, and hazelnut. Chardonnay grapes are small to medium, spherical or ovoid, with thin skin, initially green and then yellow-golden when ripe. Their finesse makes them sensitive to oxidation, requiring delicate handling during vinification. These characteristics allow Chardonnay to capture terroir nuances, making it one of the most versatile and popular grape varieties for quality white wine production.
The Chardonnay grapes are harvested by hand to ensure optimum quality. Harvesting takes place when the grapes are fully ripe, measured in terms of sugar content and acidity. This meticulous harvest captures the aromatic richness and complex flavours of Chardonnay.
The precise timing of the harvest varies according to the terroir and viticultural practices of each estate, but it generally takes place during the harvest season, usually in late summer or early autumn.
Chardonnay is a versatile culinary partner. Our Madone 2022 would pair perfectly with scallops, sole meunière, or cod with white butter sauce, reinforcing the delicacy of flavors. It will also harmonize beautifully with white meats like chicken, preferring creamy preparations to complement the Chardonnay-based wine.
