Red – Carignan – Grenache – Syrah

Our red wine, La Garuste 2022

La Garuste – AOP Côtes-du-Rhône, presents a brilliant color with fuchsia reflections. Fleshy and fruity, its aromas are those of black pepper and licorice stick. La Garuste pairs perfectly with pork tenderloin with tapenade, spiced lamb skewers, or a grilled ribeye steak.

Observe

The color reveals an intense purple hue, showing fuchsia and brilliant reflections. The particularly rich color evokes the density of Syrah grapes, the garnet nuance of Grenache, and the characteristic purple depth of Carignan.

Smell

The aromatic bouquet resulting from the union of Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan offers a rich and nuanced olfactory symphony. The aromas of black fruits, such as blackberry and blackcurrant from Syrah, blend harmoniously with the generous notes of ripe red fruits characteristic of Grenache. Carignan, with its spicy palette, brings nuances of pepper and warm spices. The whole creates a complex bouquet where each grape variety contributes to a seductive olfactory experience

Taste

The tasting reveals a balanced and powerful wine. A harmony between the robust structure of Syrah, the roundness of Grenache, and the liveliness of Carignan. On the palate, tannins from Syrah blend with the softness of Grenache tannins, creating a round and delicate texture. The liveliness of Carignan’s acidity brings real freshness. The combination of fruity and spicy aromas persists in a harmonious taste. The blend of these three grape varieties then offers a complex and evolving tasting experience that seduces with its depth, balance, and persistence on the palate.

In brief

Everything you need to know about La Garuste 2022

Grape Varieties

Syrah, originating from the Rhône Valley, is distinguished by its depth and complexity, offering wines with a dense color and powerful tannic structure, with rich aromas of black fruits, blackberry, and blackcurrant, complemented by peppery and spicy notes.

Grenache, the quintessential Mediterranean grape variety, stands out for its roundness. Appreciated in the regions of southern France, it offers complex aromas of ripe red fruits, supported by spicy and herbaceous nuances. Its generous and elegant character blossoms in blends with varieties such as Syrah, creating balanced and refined wines.

Carignan, a captivating red grape variety, is distinguished by its robust tannic structure and marked acidity, offering wines with a unique body. Its distinctive aromas of red fruits, cherry, and subtle spicy nuances give it its own personality.

Grape varieties such as Syrah and Grenache find a perfect blend with Carignan, contributing to the uniqueness of the grape varieties. A true harmony between the robustness of Carignan and the distinctive aromatic expression of Syrah and Grenache.

A meticulous harvest

The harvesting processes for Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan grapes reflect a meticulous approach to ensure optimal grape quality. For Syrah, manual harvesting is often preferred due to the tendency of clusters to ripen unevenly, requiring repeated passes for the selection of ripe grapes. Grenache harvesting, which can be slightly anticipated to maintain balanced acidity, requires particular attention due to the sensitivity of its large clusters. As for Carignan, its late harvest begins with fully ripe fruit while maintaining high acidity. Preserving the integrity of the berries, ensuring homogeneous maturation, and optimizing the quality of the grapes to produce exceptional wines.
